Radishes were first grown in China, and are related to horseradish and wasabi. That peppery taste made them popular all over the world, both roasted and raw.
These radishes are a bit sad they've been plucked from their warm hearth. The crestfallen face of these root vegetables was inspired by an angelic-looking curly-haired youth depicted in a painting by an Italian Renaissance artist, Jacopo Pontormo.
Show off your style at the farmer's market with these sad radish earrings swinging from your ears.
A few details:
- These radish earrings come in 2 sizes: the large measure almost 4 inches from top of the leaf to the bottom of the root; the small are about 2.75 inches in length.
- The earring posts are titanium, which is nickel free and safe for most people with skin sensitivities.
- Despite their size, both small and large earrings are very lightweight.
