In the medieval Europe, mandrakes were thought to be what witches used to make their brooms fly. If only.
Mandrakes actually have been used for (non-broom-related) medicinal purposes for thousands of years. In fact, until ether was discovered in the 1800s, it was used for anesthesia during surgery, going back to at least to the ancient Greeks.
Because the mandrake plant usually has 2 tap roots, it's often been depicted in art as a human in drawings, usually as a feminine figure, but occasionally appearing as a masculine one.
Although these mandrakes won't knock you out or make your broom fly, they WILL make your earrings look really good.
A few details:
- These mandrake earrings measure about 3 inches from top of the leaves to the bottom of the roots.
- The leaves are acrylic and the root is bamboo, making these earrings very lightweight.
- The posts are nickel-free titanium, which is safe for most people with sensitive skin.
